January 2016, RFID Journal has been in the garment industry, sporting goods, jewelry retailers and the company conducted a survey to find out their level of understanding of the retail industry, RFID providers. We have listed 40 RFID tags, readers and software companies.
The survey is not scientific, we only received less than 50 responses. These answers do not reflect the global retailers and manufacturers in the global situation, but they are the industry’s most understanding of RFID business. 83% of respondents said that in the past more than four years they have been studying RFID, the remaining 13% of the respondents said they studied 3-4 years. Only 4% of respondents said that less than one year study period. Hard to imagine a better understanding than their RFID groups.
We asked some of these retailers and manufacturers regarding their familiar RFID solutions provider issues. The most famous provider has: Alien Technology, Avery Dennison, Checkpoint Systems, Impinj, Tyco Retail Solutions and Zebra (in alphabetical order). 70% to 86% of companies know these companies, although they sometimes confuse these products and services.
this is a good news. The bad news is that less than half of the respondents to understand the form of additional 34 RFID provider. Of which 10 companies, only 5% of the respondents know that three unknown companies.
Let’s imagine. Retail industry’s understanding of RFID technology users or potential users, fewer than half of the people know that these RFID companies. A quarter of the company focused on the retail industry, RFID is only known to less than 5% of those who understand technology. If you have not begun to investigate those seriously consider RFID technology, general retailers, they are likely to not even call out a RFID company.
